The Vision

Capturing the holiday magic at Place Vendôme. For the festive season, I documented the creation of the iconic "Bûche de Noël" by World’s Best Pastry Chef, François Perret. The goal was to go beyond the final product and reveal the meticulous architecture behind the Ritz Paris’s most anticipated seasonal creations.

Execution

The narrative follows a step-by-step masterclass format. Guided by François Perret’s own voice-over, the video deconstructs the assembly of the different variations: the signature Madeleine, the intense Chocolate, and the vibrant Passion Fruit.

By focusing on the Chef's hands and his precise explanations, the cinematography transforms a technical process into a poetic journey. The lighting was designed to highlight the different textures, from the fluffiness of the sponge to the mirror-like glazes, ensuring that each layer feels as luxurious as the setting it was created in.

Disciplines

  • Culinary Storytelling: Using the Chef’s narrative to guide the visual flow.
  • Macro Cinematography: Detailed shots of textures and assembly techniques.
  • Sound Design: Balancing the Chef’s insights with the ambient, rhythmic sounds of the pastry kitchen.
